Business Improvement District basics
Business Improvement Districts are not-for-profit organisations like Angel AIM which improve areas to trade and work in. They are run by businesses for business, with aims that translate directly into money-saving and benefits for local businesses.
BIDs give companies large and small the power to manage their trading environment. They choose and fund services and projects beneficial to their businesses, their employees, and their customers.
These services are in addition to those already provided by the local authority and police. They are paid for by a levy of 1% of their rateable value on businesses whose premises are rated over £21,500. Smaller businesses are exempt.
